Flooding Worsens, Norwich Cancels July 4 Celebration

As heavy rains continue to fall, flooding across central New York is getting worse.

Norwich has canceled the July 4 Music and Balloon Fest due to the excessive flooding at the Chenango County Fairgrounds. Organizers are working to schedule another date for the celebration.

In Sherburne, the flooding has also worsened, and water was higher Tuesday than after five inches of rain fell last Thursday. Many rural roads and bridges have been washed out, and several roads remain closed.

Additionally, the Redneck Games in Utica has been canceled due to flooding.

The rain is expected to last at least until Saturday.
