Heavy rains that dropped nearly three inches of water in around one hour caused Main St. and Chestnut St. in Oneonta to temporarily close Monday night.

The National Weather Service has issued a flash flood warning until 11:45 p.m. Monday for the Oneonta area.

The surrounding counties of Broome, Otsego and Delaware are also under a flash flood warning as a powerful storm is dumping heavy rain across the region.

If you see rising water, move quickly and do not attempt to drive through it. CNYnews.com reporters witnessed stranded cars along Chestnut St. in Oneonta. View the report below.
