Governor Andrew Cuomo issued an executive order Wednesday releasing $16 million in state aid to victims of recent flooding.

The governor, speaking at Herkimer County Community College, said homeowners will receive assistance similar to what FEMA provides.

Cuomo said he would not call a special session of the legislature as it would take days or weeks to coordinate and would cost thousands of dollars. The $16 million comes out of a $200 million contingency fund in this year's state budget to give the state flexability in disaster spending.
