UTICA, N.Y. (AP) — Two men have been sentenced for illegally dumping asbestos-contaminated debris on wetlands in upstate New York.
Prosecutors say both were part of a group that spoiled a 28-acre piece of land along the Mohawk River in Frankfort by filling it with construction and demolition debris from New Jersey.
As heavy rains continue to fall, flooding across central New York is getting worse.
Norwich has canceled the July 4 Music and Balloon Fest due to the excessive flooding at the Chenango County Fairgrounds. Organizers are working to schedule another date for the celebration.
