All crimes described in police media releases are allegations. Named suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in court.

Oneonta police arrested 36-year-old Melissia A. Scott for first degree assault and criminal possession of a weapon. Scott is alleged to have stabbed a man at 7 Fonda Avenue in Oneonta. The victim was hospitalized in serious condition. If convicted, Scott faces up to seven years in prison.

Martin W. Planty Jr. has been charged with felony assault while locked up in the Delaware County Jail. Sheriff Craig DuMond said Planty hurt another inmate by repeatedly punching him. Planty was arraigned in Delhi Court.

State troopers based in Oneonta charged 49 year-old Kathleen Callahan of Sidney Center with acting in a manner injurious a child. She faces additional charges of drunk driving and driving while impaired by drugs.

Otsego deputies charged Amber L. Marner, 36, with multiple offenses including leaving the scene of an accident, driving an unlicensed vehicle and operating an uninspected vehicle.

A state police sting snared three Norwich business for selling alcohol to a minor. Authorities identified the stores as Nazzitto’s Wine & Liquors, Norwich Fresh Market and South End Wine & Liquor. Each clerk involved in the sale was issued an appearance ticket.

Investigations are continuing by the New York Attorney General’s Office and the State Commission of Corrections after an inmate was found unconscious inside his Otsego County jail cell. Corrections officers performed CPR but the man was pronounced dead after being taken to Bassett Medical Center.
