Stephen Dale Pierce, 58, of Plymouth, was released from prison Wednesday on parole after being convicted of murdering Wendy Cooper in 1975.

Pierce was convicted of first degree manslaughter in conjunction with the death of the 16-year-old girl and was sentenced to 25 years to life in a NYS prison.

It was alleged that in 1974, at age 19, he offered a ride to and attempted to rape Cooper, who was headed to her home on Plymouth St. in Norwich.
