UPDATE #3: 11:55 - Press conference will be held at 2 pm at Johnson City Village Hall. Police searching suspected shooter's home in Greene, Chenango County.

UPDATE #2: 11:15 am - Chief Zikuski has announced the suspect is dead.

UPDATE #1: 10:40 am - Police Chief Joseph Zikuski has announced the police officer shot this morning is dead.

The suspect is in surgery.

There will be a press conference this afternoon.

ORIGINAL STORY: 8:15 am - 

Early reports indicated two people had been hit by gunfire shortly after 7 a.m. in the area of Harrison Street near Wilson Memorial Regional Medical Center in Johnson City.

Several reports indicated that one of the people involved in the shooting was a police officer.

Police from numerous agencies gathered near the hospital. Medical buildings near the imaging facility on Harrison Street were evacuated.

Motorists are advised to avoid the area.
