St Patrick’s Day is this Sunday and events are being held all across the country to celebrate our Irish heritage.

The celebration begins in Norwich with a traditional Irish event at noon Friday in East Side Park.

City of Norwich supervisor Jim McNeil has the details.

"We will be holding the tenth annual Irish flag raising ceremony in East Park, which was originally started in 2003 by Judge Howard Sullivan," McNeil said. "It is now being spearheaded by Judge Frank Revoir. We will have bagpipers, claddagh ring dancers, we'll have Irish flags and Irish beads to give away."

A band will also be playing, weather permitting. The Norwich police honor guard will assist in the flag raising ceremony.
