How Many Remember This Gadget In Our Old Classrooms?

It seems impossible now, but the old pencil sharpener was once one of the most important fixtures of a school classroom in the 1940s-1960s.

I honestly don't know if there are pencil sharpeners in today's classrooms.  Do kids still use pencils?

But in my day you not only needed this gadget, but in my earliest, elementary school days it was a privilege, an honor, to be picked to take the teachers pencil to the back of the room and sharpen her pencil.

Yes, sadly, I am afraid you are showing your age if you remember using this nostalgic item.
