You know you are a Baby Boomer if you remember this commercial!

We've all heard about the huge amounts of money companies spend on TV commercials today.  Millions and millions of bucks get poured into hi-tech sophisticated 30 and 60-second spots.  It is mind boggling.  Take a look at this simple, classic commercial from the 1950s.  It is from the Dinah Shore Show.

Dinah would sign off her show with this song...and it is estimated that 1,000 Chevrolet's a week would roll out of the showroom floor because of it.  It is considered to be one of the most successful sponsorship partnerships in the history of television.  What do you think the total cost of production for this commercial was?  $2,000 bucks tops?  Certainly not the millions that are spent today.

Simplicity and sincerity.  That was the keystone to the success of commercials in the early days of television.  I only hope that Dinah drove a Chevy (and a free one at that!).

Does anybody remember seeing this on TV?
