Hall of Famers Open $2.2 Million Broome County Baseball Facility

ENDWELL, N.Y. (AP) — A producer of Hollywood blockbusters and a trio of baseball legends have helped an upstate New York high school open its new baseball field.

The Press & Sun-Bulletin of Binghamton reports that producer Thomas Tull and Hall of Famers Johnny Bench, Rich "Goose" Gossage and Joe Morgan were at Maine-Endwell High School Wednesday to officially open the $2.2 million baseball facility.

Named for Gary Crooks, the school's longtime baseball coach, the field features a synthetic-turf surface.

Tull, a 1988 Maine-Endwell graduate who played for Crooks, paid for the new field. The Hollywood hits by his Legendary Entertainment production company include the last two "Batman" movies and "The Hangover" films.

He's also part-owner of the Pittsburgh Steelers and a board member of the National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum in Cooperstown.
