Farmer Killed in ATV Accident in Richfield Springs

Otsego County Sheriffs deputies say Paul Szeflinski, a 75-year-old Richfield Springs farmer, died after an all-terrain vehicle accident Sunday.

Deputies say Szeflinski, of 8015 State Route 28, failed to return to the barn after herding cows. Farm employees located an unresponsive Szeflinski and his 4-wheel ATV in a creek bed on Walters Way shortly before 8 p.m. Sunday.

Szeflinski was taken to Bassett Medical Center in Cooperstown by the West Winfield Ambulance Squad where he was pronounced dead from blunt force trauma cause by the ATV accident.
