Noel Pike, 31, died after losing control of her vehicle and colliding with a tractor trailer Monday afternoon near Exit 7 on Interstate 88, according to Chenango County Fire services and the New York State Police.

The crash happened around 1:43 p.m. at the Afton exit in the eastbound lane.

Authorities said Pike lost control of her 2005 Suzuki XL-7 as she entered Interstate 88. A 2005 Freightliner slammed into the side of the minivan, killing Pike and sending her 4-year-old son and sister to the Wilson Medical Center, where they are recovering from non-life threatening injuries.

The driver of the tractor trailer, 52-year-old Gary Donovan of Johnson City, was reported in critical condition at Wilson.

Pike was pronounced dead at the scene from head trauma.
