Two Oneonta residents who are concerned about the safety of children when in school have started a group called the Guardian Angel Project.

Carrie Grace and Guy Weideman have made it their goal to ensure children are as safe as possible by lobbying for changes in the Oneonta City School District System.

"It's just a group of average, everyday citizens that are concerned with safety in our schools," Weidmen said. "It's just people getting together to share some ideas to see what we can do as individuals to help make things a little safer for our schools."

The next Guardian Angel Project meeting is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Feb. 7 at the Salvation Army Gym in Oneonta.
