The NY Works Initiative announced by Governor Andrew Cuomo will result in dam improvements in eight areas of the state to help control flooding and making flood areas more resilient to storm damage.

Some projects were completed late last year in Chenango County, including the Jackson Pond dam in the Town of Pharsalia and the Howard Jeffery dam in North Norwich. Both dams received nearly $50,000 dollars each.

This month the project continues with the Papish Pond dam in the Town of Cincinnatus, Cortland County. The Papish Pond dam will use nearly $222,000 to replace the outlet structure and embankment material, improving the stability of the structure.
