Cortland Man Dies in a Two-Car Crash

A Cortland man is dead following a two-car crash at the intersection of Starr Road and New York State Route 13 on May 2nd.

Sheriff’s officials say 42-year-old Jay’s Taxi cab driver, Richard Bennett Junior, was stopped at the intersection when his cab was hit from behind by a car driven by 19- year-old Austin Quinn at around 11:30 p.m.

Bennett was killed in the crash while Quinn and his 16 year old passenger, both also of Cortland, were not hurt.

The investigation is continuing and authorities are waiting for results of toxicology tests.
