The National Weather Service at Binghamton has upgraded the Winter Storm Watch to a Winter Storm Warning for much of the area from 5 am Wednesday to 8 am Thursday.

Winter Storm Warning:  Chemung, Chenango, Cortland, Otsego, Tompkins, Schoharie Counties

A mix of snow, sleet and rain is expected early, changing to all snow by late Wednesday morning through afternoon.

Gusty winds up to 35 mph and rapidly falling temperatures will accompany the snow Wednesday night, causing blowing, drifting snow and hazardous wind chills. Rapidly dropping temperatures may cause flash freezing on area roadways.

Accumulations of six to fourteen inches are expected, with the snow ending Thursday morning.

Travel is expected to be hazardous to impossible.

Winter Storm Advisory for Tioga, Broome and Delaware Counties.

Possible accumulations of 4 - 8 inches.

Use caution while driving.
