Two Local Men Charged With Stealing AK-47s and 500 Rounds of Ammo

Two male teenagers appeared in Chenango County Court Monday where they were arraigned for stealing an AK-47 rifle and other items from a residence in the City of Norwich. 18 year old Shawn Burke of Norwich was indicted in October for burglary 2nd degree, a class C felony and petit larceny, a class A misdemeanor. Its alleged that Burke and another knowingly and unlawfully remained in a residence. Its also alleged that while in the residence Burke stole a small safe, a watch, an AK-47 rifle, 2 –20 round magazines, 500 rounds of 7.62 caliber ammunition, and a variety of medications. Burke was arraigned January 5th and pleaded not guilty. He is due back in court at a later date
