Jonay Jones of the Southwestern Company has been cleared to sell door-to-door in the city of Oneonta.

Jones will be canvasing the area from 8 a.m.-9 p.m. Monday-Saturday until Aug. 22.

The Southwestern Company recruits and trains college students to sell educational books, software and website subscriptions door-to-door through direct selling methods. Students like Jones are independent contractors Southwestern Company employs to sell products directly to individuals at retail cost.

Cities and communities require anyone selling door-to-door to submit an application for permission. Southwestern Company has done that and is a reputable business.

If you spot anyone going door-to-door and you have either not heard of their business or are unsure of the legitimacy of the business, please contact the City Clerk Office to verify or report. Never let a person you do not know enter your home and do not give personal information to anyone whose legitimacy you question.
