Power outages and a closed roadway are the result of a tractor-trailer accident in West Oneonta at about 2a.m today. The Otsego County Sheriffs Office says 25-year-old Anthony Angona of Kirkville failed to negotiate a sharp curve traveling east in his tractor trailer on state Highway 23. Deputies say the vehicle crossed the westbound lane of traffic and left the roadway, striking a utility pole and knocking down several power lines. Authorities say Angona was not injured and neither was Otsego County Sheriff's deputy Kristopher Solovitch who was driving west on Highway 23, when his vehicle came in contact with fallen power lines. NYSEG safely removed the electrical lines. Deputies say the downed electric lines caused several outages in the area and at last check State Highway 23 was still closed from West Laurens to the intersection with state Highway 205 in Oneonta.
