Otsego County Mourns Death of Cooperstown Police Chief Mike Covert

Mike Covert, a long time local law enforcement officer, has died following a lengthy illness.  This message was just posted to the Otsego County Sheriff's Facebook page.  Our condolences, also.:

"It is with a heavy heart that the Sheriff’s Office announces the passing of retired Deputy Sheriff Investigator Michael K. Covert.

Investigator Covert served a distinguished career with the Sheriff’s Office holding the positions of Corrections Officer, Deputy Sheriff and Investigator before his retirement in 2011.

After his retirement Mike served as the Chief of Police for the Village of Cooperstown.

Our thoughts and prayers are with the Covert family during this difficult time, rest in peace brother."
