On Thursday, March 12th, at 4pm, senior citizens are invited to the Delaware Academy Central School District Auditorium where they will be treated to a free dress rehearsal of the rockin’ hit, Footloose. The Delaware Academy Spring Musical will be hosting area senior citizens to view the annual school musical and have dinner in the district's dining hall.

Footloose follows the story of Ren McCormack, a teenage boy from Chicago. He and his mother move to the small town of Bomont after his father abandons them. Upon arriving, Ren finds himself at odds with most of the town, including Reverend Shaw. The Reverend has convinced the town to outlaw dancing, which Ren finds unbelievable. With the help of the Ariel (the Reverend’s daughter) and Willard (a country hick who becomes his best friend), Ren convinces the Reverend to let the teenagers dance, and in the process helps the town to heal from a tragedy that affected them all. At intermission (around 5:30 pm) seniors will be escorted to the district's dining hall for a Chicken and Biscuit dinner served by Delaware Academy’s Food Service Staff and the cast of the show. They will then return to the theater to enjoy the rest of the musical.

Persons planning to attend are encouraged to call the Office for the Aging at (607) 832-5750 in advance so that the Food Service Department at Delaware Academy can have an accurate estimate for meal production. A suggested donation of $5.00 for the dinner is encouraged to help offset costs.
