NYS Issues Moratorium on Plastic Bag Fines
As New York enters day two of the statewide plastic single use bag ban officials announce they will delay enforcing the ban as they fight a lawsuit in Albany County Court brought by plastic bag maker and by convenience store owners who call the ban unconstitutional. The initial enforcement is a warning for the first violation with a $250 fine for a subsequent violation and a $500 fine for violations in the same calendar year.
