competition to create a statue commemorating the legendary poet Edgar Allan Poe.  Rocknak's statue was unveiled in front of hundreds of fans on a beautiful Sunday afternoon in Boston. Speeches, Poe's poems, special literary guests and just plain Poe fanatics all crowded around the newly formed Poe Park just off the Boston Commons in downtown Boston.  Rocknak's statue, titled "Poe Returning to Boston," depicts the writer arriving back to his hometown by train.  A raven (of course) leads his way back to Boston.  His cape is flowing in the breeze, and ideas and manuscripts are bursting out of his suitcase.  The crowd numbered several hundred by the time the unveiling came about.  My wife and I were in attendance, and we met several others from our listening area who made the trip to Boston to cheer on our local favorite.  The statue is life sized, so it only stands 5'8" (Poe's height).  This makes it actually blend in with the busy crowds on the sidewalk.  I have no doubt this statue will become one of the most popular of the many found in historic Boston.  Congratulations Stefanie.  You did Oneonta proud!!
