SALINA, N.Y. (AP) — Lockheed Martin Corp. says it will lay off 139 workers at two upstate New York plants this month as part of the defense contractor's cutting of 367 jobs nationwide.

Local media outlets report that Bethesda, Md.-based Lockheed announced Thursday that 114 workers will be laid off at the company's Electronics Park in Salina, outside Syracuse. Another 25 will be laid off in Owego in Tioga County.

The company says its Moorestown, N.J., facility will lose 150 jobs.

Most of the layoffs in the Mission Systems and Training Division will occur by Aug. 15.

Lockheed says the layoffs are a result of defense budget uncertainty, a delay in awarding contracts and a competitive market.

The Salina plant will employ about 1,600 and the Owego workforce will dip below 2,700 after the layoffs.
