High Risk High School Winter Sports Cancelled

The New York State Public High School Athletic Association announced the cancellation of all 2021 winter state championships and the postponement of high risk sports including basketball, lacrosse, football, ice hockey and wrestling.

Officials say arranging travel and overnight accommodations during COVID-19 made it impossible to hold championships so the association is now working on maximizing student participation without a focus on championship events. Low and moderate risk sports are not postponed.
