Over the years several polls over the years have asked the burning question: "Who is your favorite of the Three Stooges?"  Personally I was always a Larry guy.  Shemp was the nervous-ninny of the group.  Moe was the brains of the outfit (what little brains there was) but it the balding master of physical comedy Curly Howard who always comes out as the most beloved Stooge of them all.

Moe, Shemp and Curly were actual brothers (Horowitz) and Larry Fine was an actor friend who later joined them.  Curly Howard was born on this day in 1903.

The Three Stooges made hundreds of movies, radio shows, and scripted "shorts" for theaters throughout the thirties and forties.  Of course, with the advent of television they became childhood icons for the Baby Boomer generation.

Curly suffered mental illness in his later years and died in a sanitarium in California on January 18, 1952.  He was just 48-years old.
