The Kennedy Center Honors have been awarded each year since 1978.  They are considered to be the highest honor an American celebrity can receive and are given out to only a small handful of performers and artists each year.

Among the previous honorees are these legends:  Frank Sinatra, Ella Fitzgerald, Fred Astaire, Tennessee Williams, Marion Anderson, Lena Horne, James Stewart, Lucille Ball, Johnny Cash, Bob Hope and Steven Speilberg.

This year's honorees are Buddy Guy, Natalia Makarova, Dustin Hoffman, Led Zeppelin and David Letterman.

I think they really missed the mark this year.  I mean, are these people American legends?  In my opinion, no.  Great entertainers, funny men, good actors, fine musicians, etc....yes.

American legends?  No.

I think the Kennedy Center Honors blew it this year.  What do you think?

If you could have submitted a nomination who would your choice have been?
