What were they thinking?

When I was a kid we knew exactly where the goodies were on Halloween night.  I mean, it was all about the candy, wasn't it?  We knew where you could get the bronze (M&Ms), the silver (a whole Hershey bar) and the gold (homemade chocolate chip cookies).

But for every gem there was a clunker.  Among those epic fails from the Halloween of my youth were those houses that gave out coins (what kid wants a nickel...it's all about the candy, remember?), a pencil (Yes, some adults, probably teachers, thought this was a good idea.  It wasn't.)  And then there was the popcorn ball people.

Now I have nothing against popcorn balls, in fact I rather enjoy them.  But after lugging them around all night in a damp brown paper sack I always found that they bordered on somewhere between undesirable and inedible by the time I got to them rolling around in the bottom.

By the way, I came along long before some knuckleheads started handing out toothbrushes for Halloween Treats.  I cannot even imagine!

So, a word to the wise.  Keep plenty of Snickers, Hersheys, homemade goodies and other "premium treats" stocked at your house on Halloween night.  Or, pay the price!

What was your favorite and least favorite Treat on Halloween Night?
