U.S. Senators Charles Schumer and Kirsten Gillibrand last Friday announced that FEMA is awarding more than $1.8 million to the Delaware County Department of Public Works.

The FEMA funding will be for bridge repairs to rebuild Bridge No. 20 over Dry Brook from damage caused from Hurricane Irene in 2011.

The funding from FEMA covers 75 percent of the total project cost and will be used to help design and build a two-span, 147-foot long bridge to replace the damage at a 76-foot long, single-span bridge.
