Bicyclist Hit and Killed In Chenango County

A bicyclist is dead after being hit by a car in the town of Columbus. According to the Chenango County Sheriff's Office, it happened on State Route 80 just after midnight on Saturday. The rider identified as 30-year-0ld Martin Jogsdon Jr. was pronounced dead at the scene.

An investigation resulted in the driver, Allen R. Emrich, age 49, of New Berlin taken into custody and booked into the Chenango County Correctional Facility on $250,000 cash bail with a blood alcohol level of .08.  Police say there was a child in the car when the crash occurred.
