Actor Steve Franken Dies. Played “Chatsworth Osborne, Jr.” on Dobie Gillis TV Show Dies At 80
Although prolific character actor Steve Franken went on to a stellar and successful career in Hollywood, we will always remember him as the hilarious spoiled rich kid Chatsworth Osborne, Jr. on "The Many Lives of Dobie Gillis." The sitcom was a ratings hit from 1959 to 1963. The show's cast was unforgettable especially the late Bob Denver as everybody's favorite beatnik Maynard G. Krebs.
The only two surviving cast members of the show are Tuesday Weld (age 69) who played the sex kitten Thalia Menninger and the star Dwayne Hickman (78) who played Dobie.
After "Dobie," Steve was an often scene character in a long list of TV sitcoms including "Love American Style," "Bewitched," "Rat Patrol," Adam-12," and others.
