A Birthday Tribute To Allen Ludden: Game Show Host And Husband Of Betty White!

Allen Ludden (October 5, 1917-June 9, 1981) looked like a button-down college professor and in fact made his mark on TV as the moderator of a college game show ("GE College Bowl").  But we remember him as the gentle, smiling host of both the daytime and nighttime editions of "Password."  It was here that widower Ludden first met Betty White who was a gust panelist on the show.  They married in 1963 and remained married until his death in 1981.

A native of Mineral Point, Iowa, Ludden is buried there next to a 70-acre lake named in his honor, Lake Ludden.
