
Who Remembers When the Pace Car Crashed at the Indy 500 in 1971? (VIDEO)

Here is a sports factoid you may have forgotten.
The Indy 500 pace car, carrying Indy 500 owner Tony Hulman, astronaut John Glenn and sportscaster Chris Schenkel, failed to brake and crashed into a crowd of photographers on the inside track at the start of the race. Schenkel suffered a broken shoulder and the others were all inured, not seriously.
