The George Mann Tory Tavern in Schoharie is one of our area's most beautiful and historic restaurants.  And what a history it is.

George Mann was the leader of a colonist's militia in the Revolutionary War but eventually "turned his coat" and sided with the Tories so the larger British forces would use his tavern as a meeting place.  Of course this made the once respected and very popular leader much reviled by his neighbors in the Schoharie Valley.  He was arrested and spent the remainder of the war in a jail cell in Albany.

Today the tavern has been restored to all its colonial beauty and serves exquisite meals in both its main dining rooms and its historic tavern.
