Westminster AKC Best of Show is (A Familiar) Wire Terrier! (VIDEO)

Sky, the lovable and energetic wire terrier, won the top trophy at the Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show in New York this week.

Does the dog look familiar to you?

Well for an older crowd it might.  The wire terrier dog was the featured star in a very popular series of movies that came out in the1930s.  The "Thin Man" series starred William Powell and Myrna Loy.  Their dog, Asta, was a wire terrier.  Asta was named the most popular dog in America for  several years because of these movies.  There were 6 'Thin Man' movies from 1934 to 1947.  Skippy, the name of the real dog who played Asta, retired in 1939.

So, if you are an old movie lover, a dog lover or a crossword puzzle lover ("Thin Man dog": answer Asta)...Sky must just look a little familiar to you!
