Some tough decisions lie ahead for the Delaware County's Walton Central School District.

The district was recently cited as being under "moderate fiscal stress." District Superintendent Clough reacted to that designation here. Now plans are underway to address the financial stress.

In a recent post on the school district website, Clough said, "Sometime in the next few years, the Walton Central School District will not be able to provide our community's students with a sound basic education."

He states in another post: “Four years of reduced state aid, double-digit increases in insurance premiums, district contributions to state-mandated retirement systems in excess of 20%, and a growing list of unfunded, required programs and services have pushed the school district to the edge. The Board of Education will soon face difficult decisions concerning what to cut, what to keep, and how to pay for everything.”

The Board of Education has scheduled a forum to garner input from the community. WDLA's Ron Galley spoke to Superintendent Clough, who had this to say about what will take place:

The meeting will be held Thursday, 6th of February at 6:30 pm in the Middle/High School Cafeteria. RSVP by calling 607-865-4116, Ext 6130 or email cphraner@waltoncsd.org
