Village of Oxford Bans Hydrofracking

The Village of Oxford’s board of trustees has approved the first hydrofracking ban in Chenango County.

In a 4-1 vote, a zoning measure was passed that bars gas exploration, extraction and disposal within the Village of Oxford.

The Oxford board had tried to pass the moratorium back in December, but was tabled after drilling proponents threatened to sue.
