The Happenings tool a 37-year old song and turned it into solid gold with "I Got Rhythm" from 1967.  The song, written by George and Ira Gershwin, was originally penned for the Broadway musical "Girl Crazy."  Ethel Merman was tie original ( and many consider, the best) vocalist to handle this tricky song.

Many forget how instrumental the Smothers Brothers were with their late-1960s TV show in bringing modern, hit musical acts to a national audience.

This is a great clip.
