The City of New York has decided to go ahead and hold the New York City Marathon this Sunday, November 4.  This has created quite a stir in the city.  The Marathon begins in hard-hit Staten Island which seems insensitive at best.

Mayor Michael Bloomberg downplayed the diversion of first responders and official personnel employed to handle the thousands who come in each year for the race.  On the other hand he greatly extolled the financial impact on the city in its time of need.

Staten Island residents and many other New Yorkers feel differently.
