When Broad Street was leveled for Urban Renewal it took with it a lot of ghosts of yesteryear.

Here is one I had never heard of before.  The Dairy Lunch was located at 19 Broad Street sometime between 1907-1915 (according to the info on the card).  The proprietor was E.A. Smith.

Take a look a this card.  The diner seems very small, no more than ten tables.  There is a small service counter in the back and a standard checkout counter in the front.  The diner advertises all the usual amenities:  satisfaction guaranteed, moderate prices and this odd proclamation:  "Clean food to eat in a Clean Place."

That mystifies me a little bit.  Ever hear of a restaurant serving clean food?  I wonder what that meant?
