New York State Police issued nearly 13,700 tickets and arrested 225 people for impaired driving over Memorial Day weekend as part of the STOP-DWI traffic enforcement campaign. Over 3,800 drivers were ticketed for speeding and close to 400 for distracted driving. There were nearly 135 personal injury crashes, which resulted in four people killed and 190 injured. Last year just over 13,300 tickets were handed out with 234 people for impaired driving. Troopers used marked and unmarked vehicles during the campaign.
