URGENT - WINTER WEATHER MESSAGE National Weather Service Binghamton NY 350 AM EDT Mon Mar 13 2017 NYZ046-057-062-PAZ040-044-047-048-072-140800- /O.CON.KBGM.WS.W.0004.170314T0000Z-170316T0000Z/ Otsego-Delaware-Sullivan-Northern Wayne-Lackawanna-Luzerne-Pike- Southern Wayne- Including the cities of Oneonta, Delhi, Walton, Monticello, Damascus, Equinunk, Scranton, Hazleton, Wilkes-Barre, Milford, and Honesdale 350 AM EDT Mon Mar 13 2017 ...WINTER STORM WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM 8 PM THIS EVENING TO 8 PM EDT WEDNESDAY... * LOCATIONS...Otsego, Delaware, and Sullivan counties in New York, as well as Wayne, Pike, Lackawanna, and Luzerne counties in Northeast Pennsylvania. * HAZARD TYPES...Heavy snow, as well as significant blowing and drifting. * ACCUMULATIONS...Storm totals of 12 to 18 inches by Wednesday, with localized amounts greater than 20 inches. * TIMING...Snow is expected to develop over the region later tonight, generally after 11 pm. Snow will become heavy at times overnight and on Tuesday. Snowfall rates around 2 inches per hour are quite possible. Although the overall intensity will diminish significantly Tuesday night and Wednesday, periods of snow will likely produce additional accumulations. * IMPACTS...Travel will become quite difficult, with snow covered, slippery roads, and poor visibilities. Increasing winds Tuesday afternoon through Wednesday will create significant blowing and drifting snow. * WINDS...North 10 to 15 mph, with gusts up to 30 mph, especially Tuesday afternoon through Wednesday. * TEMPERATURES...Ranging from the upper teens to mid 20s much of the time.
