Oxford Board Tables Measure to Ban Natural Gas Drilling

The Oxford Village Board has tabled a measure to become the first in Chenango County to put a hold on natural gas drilling.

Village leaders say that because of the controversy over the issue, they want to take their time with the decision.

Interest in the issue was so strong that Tuesday's village meeting was moved to the Oxford middle school auditorium, where strong arguments on both sides of the issue were heard. Village leaders said they will look at the issue closely over the next few days
