The town of Oneonta's chances of receiving state and federal financial support for extending public water service to southside have improved.

This after the Otsego County Industrial Development Agency on Thursday approved a $100,000 thousand loan for the town of Oneonta's water project.

Officials say the loan was doled out at a rate of 4 percent and would be repayable in three years. This project still needs the support of the public in the creation of two new water districts at a special referendum vote.
