According to New York State Police at Oneonta, a man from Otego was arrested for driving the wrong way on I-88 for several miles on Friday near Oneonta. Steven D. Wiedeman, 72 years old of Otego forced several vehicles on the interstate off the road as he traveled the wrong way (eastbound) in the westbound lanes just before noon last Friday. After Weideman had traveled about 7 miles going in the wrong direction, a trooper finally was able to get him to make a u-turn near exit 16 and subsequently pulled over.

Wiedeman was arrested and charged with Driving While Ability Impaired by Drugs.  He was issued appearance tickets to the city of Oneonta court on September 28.
