Hollywood favorite Philip Seymour Hoffman was found dead in his New York City apartment Sunday afternoon.  Preliminary cause of death is a drug overdose.  He was 46.

Hoffman won his Best Actor Oscar for his portrayal of Truman Capote in 2006.  He was nominated for Best Supporting Actor on three other occasions:  Charlie Wilson's War (2007), Doubt (2008) and The Master (20012).

He was born in the Upstate New York town of Fairport, just outside of Rochester.
