Longtime popular Oneonta eatery Sabatini's Little Italy has closed.

The restaurant was open to handle the crowds for parents weekend this past Saturday.  In fact I went on Saturday night and had my usual terrific meal.  Their calamari is among the best I have ever had.  But as of Tuesday night the restaurant is closed.  A note on the front door reads:

"Thank You to Our Loyal Customers!

We have leased Sabatini's out.  It will reopen as an Asian restaurant under new management in the future.  Thank you.

Marty and Brenda Patton"

The restaurant was famous for it's family sized portions, Old World ambiance, eclectic wine list, roaring brick fireplaces, convivial lounge as well as traditional Italian recipes, from pastas to pizza to soups. Oh, and the neighborly Italian language lessons that played in the restrooms!

I wish the Pattons well and thank them for many memorable meals and good times.  I look forward to the news of the new owners of the Asian restaurant. and welcome them to Oneonta.
