The Oneonta City School Distrct capital project was approved by the city school district voters, 392 to 193, on Tuesday.

The $4.6 million capital project will address security concerns and correct serious issues with the district physical plant that have been long overdue for repair and replacement, according to interim Superintendent David Rowley

The state will cover over 70 percent of the project and the local share will be approximately $119,000 per year over a 15-year period beginning in the 2014 school year. This equates to a tax levy increase of about 0.6 percent.
