Oneonta Bar Fight Leads to Felony Arrest
This past Saturday at about 1:50 AM members of the Oneonta Police Department responded to the Sip and Sail Tavern, 80 Water St, Oneonta for a report of a disturbance. Upon arrival the officers, were directed to 34 year old James Williams of Oneonta allegedly holding a chain in a threatening manner. Police say the investigation revealed that Williams had been involved in a fight inside the Sip and Sail Tavern. When the staff of the tavern intervened he allegedly struck the staff member with a chain that was loosely wrapped around his hand. In addition Police say Williams provided a false name and identification before his true identity could be confirmed. Subsequently, Williams was charged with Criminal possession of a weapon in the 2nd degree a class D felony, Attempted assault in the second degree, a class E felony and Criminal possession of a forged instrument in the second degree, class D felony. The class A misdemeanors of Menacing in the second degree, Reckless endangerment in the second degree and Obstructing governmental administration in the second degree. Williams was also charged with the class B misdemeanors of False personation and Criminal trespass in the third degree.
